In a ten minutes drive we reach the castle walls of the cultural and historical city Óbidos. It is a must visit as it is the most well preserved medieval town of Portugal.
The atmosphere of the characteristic Portuguese flea markets and the Óbidos fairs have their own lovely charm.
Numerous beaches are within a reach of less then a halfhour drive, starting from Peniche ,Baleal, Lourinhã, Nazaré, Praia D'El Rey, up until Foz Do Arelho and São Martinho de Porto.
For the wine lovers the famous Quinta dos Loridos is an excellent place for wine tasting.
As Peniche is known as the city of surf, plenty of different kinds of watersports activities are available.
Lourinha is also worth a visit as it has not only a beautifull beach but also is a very interesting historical site as dinosaur fossils were found here, the Lourinha museum is glad to tell you all about it!
The Bacalhôa Buddha Eden is the biggest oriental garden in Europe. The garden is part of the winetstery Quinta dos Louridos.
For bigger city trips the ideal capital Lisbon is just within an hour of reach. Other worth-to-see cities Nazaré, Alcobaça, Batalha, Fátima, Mafra, Sintra are also just within an hour reach.
Caldas da Rainha with its famous thermal baths, ceramic fabric and the daily fresh fruitmarket are just a fifteen minutes drive.
